He is a manager in the sorting office. He doesn't earn a massive amount and works a regular shift.
The dispute is really about the guys doing the rounds, but one of the issues my mate has is that under the new terms he could be sent anywhere to do his days work. So he could end up having to make his own way, unpaid, to an office 60 miles away. Normally this would be constructive dismissal, but he is being asked to waive this right in return for ... well nothing.
The problem is that these 'spanish practices' have been part of the terms and conditions for years. So it really is the case that the employees are being asked to do more than has been previously required for no additional money.
I can see both sides of the argument, as can he, but he doesn't get paid a lot and the loss of 4 or 5 days wages a month will be painful
