+1 try a light polish like
Poorboys SSR1 if you haven't wet sanded. i wouldn't wet sand for bird poop etching anyway you would probably need to polish after that as well. once you polish make sure you have a good sealant on there and a couple layers of wax and bird poop etching should be a non issue.
