There's the quite a lot of darkness going on in that photo - probably in daylight there's much more contrast between the car and the alloys. A good clean would help, like you say.
Im a fan of dark wheels, i've colour coded mine with a gloss rear diffuser and will be doing gloss mirrors and finally a CSL style bootlid, fading to a black edge. Think a spoiler would help with the aggressiveness you might be going for with the alloys?
On the whole, I like it.
