I've had an LCI 330d e92 for over 2 years now after numerous cars in a short'ish period of time and love it. 325d is fun but 330d far more punchy and seems no worse off on mpg.
I have had no issues with mine whatsoever ... And have got between 36mpg and 52mpg. My 320d only gave 38-50 ... On the same journeys ! The LCI 330d is 6 to 60 and in no way slow ... Quicker than focus st, golf Gti, etc.
Auto really suits the car ... Try one and you will love it. The 330d is only .1 sec slower to 60 than a 335d ... Though that is quicker between 60-100. As I don't use that area much the difference wasn't worth buying the 335d with it's worse fuel economy.
