Need some clarification on paddle shifters: LCI -> DCT

I have an LCI 335 with the factory black-and-chrome paddle shifters and Mtech steering wheel. I'd like to upgrade my shifters to the M3 DCT ones, but I'm finding lots of conflicting information on this forum as to whether this is possible or not with an LCI car. I know they're plug-and-play with pre-LCI cars, but apparently not with LCI ones, so what do I need to do to get these up and running? Has anyone out there gotten these working?

My reason for the swap is so that I can get some paddle shifter extensions (only available for DCT shifters) because the LCI ones are just a bit too short for where I place my hands while driving.

Thanks!!!

EDIT: To be clear, I want to know what I need to do to go from this paddle shifter:

to this paddle shifter:
