Root canals are relatively painless. It's the cause of the RC that is brutal.
Had a nerve completely die inside of a tooth earlier this year. The pain was excruciating. I'd rather blow my foot off with a shotgun than deal with that pain again. While I was waiting for the emergency RC, they only thing that kept me from screaming was keeping ice cold water on the affected tooth. I was in such pain the anethesiologist shot the needle straight into my gums without the topical numbing solution. Pure. Bliss.
Had the final RC cap on for over 4 months now, no problems whatsoever! They even did a great job matching my natural tooth color.
