it is the same for all 3 series bmw's, my brother has an 08 e92 335i and I have an 09 e90 335i m sport.
From 2006-2010 and on, e90,e91,e92, and e93.
It is the same procedure.
all you have to do is pull up really hard on the shifter in one jolt, make sure you are holding in the button on it, and dont punch yourself in the head.
It doesn't really matter whether you do it in park or neutral. I prefer neutral because in park it is easier to smack into the hvac control panel and damage something
