I think this is a common misconception about the S2000. Just because it revs to 9,000 doesn't mean that you have no performance unless you rev it to 9,000.
In fact performance is very good even much lower down the rev band.
It's true about the handling - they tend to have a bit of a dead feel to the steering - but they do handle. Unfortunately a lot have been written off or badly damaged by youngish drivers for whom it is their first RWD car and who don't know how to drive one.
