I think it might be the shitty stock clutch that mazda includes with their tranny, or the not so recently discovered clutch pedal bracket flexing/cracking/breaking that causes excessive wear..

Ahh that's probably it then.
Problem with rotary is that you can't squeeze power out of them. Engine swap is the cure.
