To adjust for 2006, you need to change the 1754 to 1755 or 1756 depending upon whether or not you had your birthday. The big mystery?

I have modified my explanation so the thing will work...

Essentially the game sets you up to multiply your beer desire number by 100, placing it safely two places above your age. Then you have been asked to add your age. Certainly you can see that

1756 + 250 = 2006, coincidence, I think not.

The equation is y= 1756 + (2x+5)(50)-(2006-age).

This may be reduced to y = 100x +age. where x is how many times you wanted to drink beer a week.

*Naturally, if you're over 100 years old, this whole thing doesn't work, but then you probably don't like computers, either...so you wouldn't have seen it.*
