While driving to work along a country road this morning in the dark; drove in to some flood water. I didn't see it until I was in it!! Engine stopped and wouldn't start again!!

I did have a good workout pushing the car out of the flood by myself! Crumbs they're heavy!!

AA man arrived about 4 hours later! First thing he said was "you'll need a new engine!" and then he said some insurers might even write it off!

The water didn't get in to the cabin!

Car eventually recovered to local BMW dealer who will let me know the bad news, but they think it is highly likely the engine is damaged!!

Part of me wishes they do write it off!! Shall I buy an Evoque?

As always I'm learning lessons the hard way!!

Anybody had anything similar?
