Hi folks,

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm new to the BMW world. I've read with interest the difference winter tyres will make & I'm convinced. My car is an E90 M Sport with 225/45/17 and 255/40/17 but I've been offered a set of 16" alloys which are too good to refuse at only £100.
Can someone confirm the tyre size I should be looking at for Winter tyres?
Can I get away with cheap winter tyres or should I be looking at the bigger tyre names such as Michelin / Conti / Bridgestone? My commute is less than 8 miles.
