I've been happy with my Hankook Ventus V12s and they handle fine in the rain. They didn't feel well at all in the snow this winter, but I didn't expect anything else from summer tires and 300HP RWD car. That and I was riding around in my buddy's 4WD Silverado prior so that didn't help the comparison.
Discount Tire is good about price matching. I did the same thing as you...had them pricematch TireRack. Let me know how they match it for you. The one I went to in Tacoma would only match the shipped priced of TR. So I had to pay TR's price w/ shipping cost plus WA tax.
