how much mileage do you have on the 5? seems a little early to have valve issues.
You can buy the software and necessary tool for the updates and programming at home. I have just over 78,000km but you clearly hear the valve lifters. Happens on colder and humid days. My driving distance is short and this causes the issue. I will probably need the improved parts fully implemented by Nov.2008.
