Depends. The iPod is oblivious to the fact that it's in your car, so the behavior is no different than if you left it on the kitchen table. If you're listening to an album or playlist it will shut off after that list has finished playing. If you are listening to the entire library or random shuffle, etc. then it will keep running until it dies.

Well its plugged into the cig lighter. So if the power on that goes off when I shut the ignition off, should the ipod go off too?
