I had one of those "recalls" taken care of back in December when I brought my car in to have the winter boots put on. They had to place the AC line bracket on----IT WAS NOT A RECALL, BUT A SERVICE BULLETIN. BMW says they weren't sure about structural integrity of the AC lines over a long period of time (100,000 miles) due to engine vibrations,
in other words: it might be an unecessary addition, but they are playing safe rather than sorry I guess. The interesting part is the mechanic had to take the air intake box off, and one of the turbos, but to his surprise, when he got there, the holes for the bracket were already drilled, so all he had to do was screw the part in. Its no big deal, the worst part was just the labor for the poor mechanic just to screw in a bracket
