Not sure if you've taken a look at the Mini Connected app, from BMW, but that does do google maps send to car from within the app itself, along with google local search, rss news feeds, etc .... along with some additional capabilities. The BMW connected app looks quite poor by comparison !
I hope they will upgrade the BMW connected app in-line with Mini Connected. Give customers choice and flexibility on how the car is connected to the outside world, and not lock them in to service contracts.
