Ahh so you're one of the ones has has caused the 'classic car price hike' aka price increase as only a few left as most where smashed by over enthusiastic young drivers.
I owned my 1.9GTI about 8 years ago now a came close to writing it off a few times, in fact i remember a close your eyes moment quiet vividly... High speed lift off going over a fly-over expansion joint on a constant radius bend.... IDIOT... Much like you i was young,19, and very in experienced.
My friends one is a track prepped 1.9 with mi16 engine from the 405 in it. Amazing car when its running.
If i could afford to have another car i would get either the 1.9GTI or my old e30 325i again.
