Mine had failure to regen, caused by a failed exhaust back pressure sensor.

The symptoms were spotlessly clean exhausts and a gradual drop off in performance at higher revs.

I had replaced both the thermostat some 3000 miles earlier and once up to speed was maintaining 90 deg. But if you're running cool then get those changed, and don't let the dealer / garage tell you they are fine cos he's left in running whilst stationery for 20 minutes and it's showing 88 deg!

Since fixed (2000 miles) I've not seen or felt any signs of it doing a regen, despite looking for it - apart from constantly sooty exhausts. Maybe they just poked a hole through the DPF!

Just wish I hadn't paid out £300+ for a new MAF sensor after being told by a 'specialist' this was the likely cause.
