Why do anything on your own to save money if you can just spend more money and buy something off the shelf?
Well, some people just like to make their own parts. It's not always about saving a thousand dollars or more.
12 years ago I could have just paid Active Autowerkes $12,000 for an E36 M3 turbo kit, but instead I made my own for half the price and it performed better as well. It's just what real car guys sometimes do!
