cruzine: I believe someone said earlier in the thread that if you can press the idrive knob and cause the gray status overlay window to go away your software is updated. I didn't know about it before mine had been updated, so can't verify.
You could also download the torrent, put it on a stick, plug it in, and see if the car recognizes it. If it asks for an FSC code you're good to go, if not then you need to update (or you goofed up the process)...
