So cool. I did this on my 2009 E90. Was extremely hopeful that I would have the second "white piece" since 2010 and 2011 owners did. Unfortunately I did not. Rigged it up from a nickel and a wire nut. Super glued some layers of packaging plastic to the nickel to ensure that it would be insulated in the event it came into contact with any electrical connections. I also used this to increase the thickness of the nickel so that it fit in there perfectly snug.
So worth the 30 minutes and $.05, but definitely not worth the $50+ dollars for the OEM part. I'm not sure when I'll ever use the rear fogs, but it's cool that I have them at least. Thanks OP!
PS. I'm sure that the dealer could provide the rear fog button from the switch only. Could just say it popped off and that is all you need. No LED in my switch for the rear fog, either. Personally I like the stealth switch.
