I am not an expert in this area but I know that there are two methods of repairing the minor gutter damaged alloy:
1. Cheap and easy method : Using the putty as described above.
My worry is when removing the tyre from wheel, the tyre removing tool may scraped out the putty. Although it is very unlikely and it is just my theory.

2. Using aluminium and burn it into the damage area. This method is usually more expensive, done by professional and it was believed to be stronger.

You may need to use the second method for forged wheel.
