Brake fluid absorbs water, which leads to corrosion problems and possible loss of the brakes if it should flash to steam during prolonged heavy braking. This is the root of those driver’s ed lectures about brake pedals going to the floor when coming down a mountain.
This should really be done in all cars, not just German ones.
