If you're starting out...
Camera doesn't matter, but I'd recommend a dSLR of some sort.
The kit lens will be fine, but I recommend getting a wide-angle lens as well.
Adobe Lightroom 4 would be my suggestion for editing software.
You can always buy my used 20D for cheap and then a lens elsewhere.
