I think it's a pretty standard loss in value. Maybe a little bit steeper than if it were a Honda or something less prone to needing repairs.

After the warranty is up it seems to me that BMW's are really only desirable to people willing to deal with the repairs. In general, people don't want to turn wrenches. Bad news for someone that wants to drive a relatively new bmw. Good news for someone that wants to buy one that's older and is willing to work on it.
