Don't go full blast on the stock head unit. I have not verified for myself, but I'm pretty sure it starts clipping the signal once the signal gets over 3 volts.
The iDrive HU not having a volume meter is a real PIA. that is why I'm using the output voltage from the HU as a guide for setting the gains.
