Our cars would've been securely strapped to the deck (came in mighty handy when the D J went through that tropical wave halfway across the Atlantic
). Shipping blocks would've been used to prevent suspension compression as they were strapped tightly down. Notice how tight the cars are packed (cozy and intimate).
This is one of the many signs posted on the cargo decks of the ship to remind the crew and longshoremen to be careful around the cars. The warning: "Be Careful not to cause handprint damage" is rather amusing
