What I was referring to was the narrowing of the beam when the window is down, but i see the error in my comment because when this issue first arose we were all testing the capability of the interior alarm by dropping the windows and sticking our hands towards the OBD port. If the beam was narrow at this point then of course the alarm wouldnt go off.
My point is that their response doesnt explain how when the windows are up but smashed in the corner; how the beam (which should at this point be wider) doesnt pick up on a hand sticking through the window.
