with a Cobb tune, that 335i should keep up easily with that M3 since it wasn't even going that fast. The problem was it was following too close the entire time and the driver had no time to react.
a rookie mistake.
i take it back, i see what went wrong. there was an oncoming car and the m3 was going to beat the oncoming car. The 335i had no chance on both sides. The only way would've been head-on collision or rear-end.
