Same type of thing happened to me. I went to pick the car up and they said that after updating the software my waste gates were rattling. So they put in new Actuators and "adjusted vacuum". Got a nice 2011 328 wagon for Friday and the weekend. I only drove the car for a few minutes back to work today so no real observations yet. My exhaust (AE) sounded a bit louder, but that may be placebo effect from driving the near silent wagon for 3 days.
I'll look at the paperwork more closely tonight and note the software version as well.
