I was a fan of diapers for a while, but have come to believe thick terry-cloth is best for wax or polish removal. Although they are a bit expensive, the medium size Griot Garage towels are *really* nice.
For drying after a wash I bought something new this year and that is a pair of waffle weave microfiber '
Big Blue Towel' from proper auto care. These are phenomenal. One towel will do an entire E90 (minus wheels). I don't usually get real excited about this stuff and have absolutely no affiliation with the vendor, but these blue towels are definitely the real deal.
Where I've found microfiber to work really great is on glass with my favorite glass cleaner which is 3M. Prefer terry cloth to microfiber for removing zaino.
