Do i have to get the paddles though?

Will the steering wheel not work with the paddles i already have (sport paddles that comes with the car)?

My dad has an M and in my honest opinion i find the +/- paddles to be rather annoying and limiting. For example, while driving with my paddles i can take a turn and have the freedom of shifting with either my left or right hand to shift down or up as opposed to the M setup which is fixed (shifting up is on the right and shifting down is on the left).

Regards,
