Yep, except when it's going to be on BMW's dime, then they will try to just replace the pads, even if the rotors are only a hair away from out of spec! Then, by the time the pads come around again, the rotors are long toasted, BUT...you are probably out of warranty by now...
But if you go in for a brake job out of warranty, they'll tell you to replace both pads and rotors at the same time, EVERY time!
