- Move the iDrive to the right, and you'll notice the orange outline around that screen (aka Assist Window).
- Push the iDrive knob down
- A menu will appear. Scroll through it, there should be one to turn off the assist window. This is the menu that has the other map views, trip computer, etc.
FYI even after you turn it off, don't expect any of the screens to become "full screen." Unfortunately the way this works is that Assist Window area is always taken up, whether it is in use or not, during your navigation through the other submenus, except for the main screen or the settings menu (when you push the iDrive in from the menu screen).
BTW, this won't stay off for good. Each time you get in your car you have to do this if you always want to turn it off. On a related note, you can also setup one of the buttons on your steering wheel to turn the entire screen off, or turn it off manually via the settings menu... fish around
