335i manual trans rattling

Hi all,

I just picked up my 335i last week, Thursday... yesterday, while driving on the highway, we came to a dead stop... traffic was merging... I decided to stay in the faster lane, and then merge into the slower one...

Since no one wanted to let me pass, I decided to gun it in 1st gear from a stop and made my way into the lane... but suddenly, I felt as if something was wrong... there was this weird creaking/grinding sound coming from the clutch when I pressed it, but it went away...

Today, I drove the car again... the creaking/grinding noise came back... What I noticed:
1) Its much louder/noticeable when the car is cold... If I let it sit in the parking lot for like 15 min, and then go and drive it, I can hear the noise again...
2) When warmed up, you can't really hear it UNLESS you're shifting low, as indicated by the shift indicator (around 1500 rpm)
3) When shifting low, you can hear the sound as you clutch in, and you cannot hear it as you press the clutch back out...

Any ideas anyone? Have I damaged something?

Thanks.
