The guy we use to take us to Gatwick/Heathrow runs a Vectra diesel 2005; he is always on the motorways or A roads........its done 220,000 now with purely regular maintenance.
OK purely anecdotal but I get the feeling that modern cars properly maintained, especially with low-stress M-way miles can run well beyond 100k without expensive problems.
I imagine that the more complex the car the less probable that is however?
