There is certainly a place for this type of service, but a no blame accident like this will still up your next renewal. Even your insurance wasn't used, the incident may fid its way on the industry database so it's best to tell your insurer, even if you don't need them to act. If you have legal protection as part of you insurance why not use that service.
There is no such thing as a 'free lunch' here.
