It's very unlikely that I've got a GM transmission; the BMW charts that I've seen indicate that it's only xi models that got GM transmissions in the E90/E91s. I fully expect to find a ZR transmission.
The more I think about this maintenance, the more I'm tempted to buy a new pan/filter. I think that changing the filter and most of the tranny fluid would take care of my tranny for several years - I'd be able to do this maintenance item just once instead of twice. I may just go to the BMW dealer today or tomorrow and have them tell me which transmission that I have.
I should also probably get a printout of all maintenance that's been done, since it just went over 50K miles a couple of months ago.
