The only reasons I don't have leatherette in my wagon are that BMW was giving leather away for free on the e91s, and the leatherette comes in only two colors. I would not have paid $1450 for this crappy cowhide, and if I could have gotten chestnut brown leatherette I would have ordered it anyway even over the free leather. A car is no place for cowhide. And this grade of leather is so treated and sealed and painted it might as well be plastic anyway.
What I would really prefer is a nice grade of woven cloth. Now THAT would be luxurious. Something like the indestructible tweed in my '85 Jetta.
