This is not necessarily true. Many people are forced to go through their own policy despite being not at fault. Your poilcy will get raised for something they can attribute to being your fault- a speeding ticket, and accident where you hit someone. Your poilcy should not go up if you were not at fault, but you would still be on the hook for your deductible unfortunately.
