It all depends on where in the RPM range you are seeing that boost. Hitting 16 psi down low then quickly tapering to 12-13 towards redline (as I believe the stage 1 maps do) should not be an issue typically. When you say you are hitting 16-17, I am imagining it is peaking at that and not sustaining it through the entire RPM band correct? If you can do a log and post it, it will tell us everything we need to know. I doubt there is anything to be concerned about though.
