Frequent power braking will cause an early failure. Once & awhile you might get away with it. Drag racing specific autos have high stall speed torque converters that do not load the gear box preventing excess heat buildup. That being said all the really quick 135i/335i autos are starting in 2nd gear since a hard launch in 1st will only fry the tires.
