Painted brake calipers are actually not so hard. Im not really a arts/crafts type, but I was able to paint my calipers. You can pick up a Duplicolor caliper paint kit from any autoparts store for about 20 bucks. They are actually pretty good. It comes with a pint or so of paint and a brush. Just get some brake cleaner and clean them off and you can just brush them up without removing them. Seems to still be holding up fine on my car.
