I'm guessing that is due to the free flow design of the muffler... so, if you gut a stock system and run two perforated pipes through it, a stock system should come close to PE in both weight and performance.
I'm sure the PE is worth $1k, but i can't spend that when $200-$300 will essentially convert my stock exhaust in to a PE.
