It doesn't sound right, having only lasted 19000 miles. However, there have been some faulty clutches and flywheels that have needed replacing in the early 000s of miles.

Describe how the car is 'not drivin smoothly' ? Do you mean there is jerkiness when feeding out the clutch, as in the biting point is soft and there's slippage, or is the jerkiness once you're under way and the clutch pedal fully released?
well when i press down the clutch and move of it slowly you can hear a clicking noise, and the accelaration just doesnt feel smooth, but once in 2nd or 3rd the car is fine - it definitely is the clutch, the biting point jerks and instantly you know something is wrong with the clutch. BMW told me the clutch is on its way out so they will replace it under warranty.
