Ask the forum if someone can discuss what it's like to live or visit a certain place, I'll start:

I've been there before, the pace of life is relatively slow, very suitable for living. But I still prefer Singapore more lol

I have been a few times for work. The driving in Manila is crazy. For example, if there is a lane merge then other drivers make 4-5 lanes to merge into that single lane during rush hour. So hire a driver rather than self-drive. The communal taxi (or Jeepny as it is also known) can be a hot bed of theft and sexual harassment. So it’s not advisable for women to travel alone on those. Manila has a revolving restaurant which is awesome. Seoul Sky 100 revolving restaurant. Tagaytay was wonderful. There is an active volcano. The second most active IIRC. There are a couple of nice garden restaurants there too. Alfonso is a beautiful village near Tagaytay. There is a lovely restaurant there called Sonya’s Garden. It’s worth a visit. The tourist spots are generally safe. The jungle areas are overrun by felons and best avoided. Some nice fishing spots near Tagaytay if you’re into fishing. People are generally friendly there as well. There are plenty of islands and beaches. The food is quite nice. The mangoes are to die for if you like mangoes. My trips were in 2015 and 2018.

When I was a senior in high school, my family moved to the Philippines, so I graduated (on a U.S. military base) there. Then after joining the Navy, my first duty station was the Philippines; I was only there for 15 months. Years later I went back as a family man for 18 months. In each case, my time there was somewhat shorter than it would have otherwise been. And my experinces are all 1960s-1980s, so vintage. But I found the Filipino people to be friendly to Americans; I have lots of fond memories. As stated before, it is tropical weather.
I gather that the standard of living has improved since I was there; there were still families living in nipa huts on stilts made of bamboo back then; the poverty was sobering.

I've only visited Naples when I was in the Navy. Stay away from the port area and the town is nice. If you do go to the port area make sure you are into large bearded men in lingerie offering services and rats of unusual size.

OMG, thats what my wife and I experienced getting out of the train station in Florence. We took WAY too much luggage and I had to get 6 bags up the stairs to street level with about 20 gypsies hawking me waiting for me to leave something behind

I'll be working for the Navy at the support site, but have been checking out Pozzuolo and Lago Patria for places.

The support side isn't on too bad side of town. Definitely hop a train to Rome and down to Pompei.

Ohio still has the death penalty for speeding, so I advise staying far away from that state.....

Cleveland, isn’t that where Ariel Castro held three women captive as sex slaves for ten years before they got free in 2013? Sounds like a fun town.
