Spare Key Question
Hey all,
I have a spare BMW key for a car that I no longer own. It looks identical to the keys i have for my 335i and my mum's x6. Can I somehow cut that key and use it as a spare for either of the others cars? Preferably the e93. Or should I just throw it in the bin? Thanks. |

That particular key, no. The security code can only be written once to the key, after that it's a throw away.
The older transponder type key could have the IC replaced to be reprogrammed. If you don't want the key, send it to me and I'll have a tinker with it and see if I can get a black security IC for it and program it. I have all the tools to make the keys nowadays, so it could be a fun experiment. |
