330i lifespan in mileage

can anyone give me a ballpark estimate how many miles people are getting out of their 330i's with the the N52. Assuming good maintanance and keeping up with the vehicle.

I have 380k on mine.

@Efthreeoh has 400k+ on his.

Never had the crankcase opened AFAIK. The N52 has some legs.

Mine has had a harder life, burns a quart of oil about every 2,500-3,000. Cats were fouled by oil ingestion when the PCV system totally failed about a month after I got it around 270k. Doesn't even have lifter tick.

This was 70k miles ago. Hasn't changed. Fixed a lot of stuff, but probably not as much as one would think.

Runs like a German sewing machine.

Should probably qualify this to say your milage (heh) will vary, and searching the forums will find a lot more cars that have failed than lasted nearly this long.

These N52 engines will last as long as you are willing to put money into.

It's really that basic. I mean some people say I'm not putting two thousand into replacing the struts, tie rods, engine mounts shocks wheel bearings and more that will need to be done to keep it on the road. Whereas others will say hey two thousand is cheap compared to buying something different.

That being said the N52 is considered one of the best and most reliable engines BMW ever built. Even the year it was built it was instantly added to Ward's top ten engines list.

I just ditched an f25 x3 with the N55 as my daily driver and switching back to a 328i with the n52. Its by far my favorite engine of all time, sheer smoothness is just unmatched, loved the linear powerband but thinking of selling it for a 330i 2006 year model for the added HP. Could do the 3 stage intake upgrade but ive read where people have had hiccups along the way with that upgrade to their regular intake. Always like the way the 2006 looked with the sport wheels as well. Just a BMW sport sedan in its purest form.

N52’s are extremely reliable engines, not even just by BMW standards, I’ve never had an unjust failure on any of my N52 cars, especially when maintained on schedule. My old E92 had the highest miles of the bunch (188k) but ran just as good as when I bought it 100k miles prior. It was by far the most abused of my cars- I daily drove it 120 miles round trip for 8 years, and while I tried to follow all service schedules, due to how busy my life was then I couldn’t spend too much time on it. But even then it still never let me down

As far as the 330i specifically, my first 330i was sold around 150k miles and drove perfectly.

My current 330i sits at 96k miles today (bought at 47k miles) and it has no discernible deficit at all from the day I bought it.

Happy driving!
