Injector Recall and JB4
I have an appointment tomorrow to have my car serviced at the Dealership for the Injector Recall and other maintenance. I currently have the JB4 installed and no time to take it out. The car is still under warranty but about to expire in about 1000 miles. Do you guys think I would be okay just leaving the JB4 in on Map 0 and hiding the USB Cable? I checked the codes and the only one that pops up is Exhaust Fumeflap because I have an aftermarket exhaust on the car. If I had Tuner Detection codes, would it show me on the JB4 Interface Code Read/Delete screen? Thanks!

Who cares what we think, what do you think? I would take the 30 min and take it out for peace of mind but since there's a recall...

Well U can either be lazy and risk it, you might get it changed or you might not. Or you can get off ur lazy ass take the 30 minutes to do it and then youll realise that at the end of your warranty they do a free inspection where they change th eoil..etc and if they find your jb4 well you can kiss you injectors and maintenance goodbye.
Just think of it, Instead of posting this here you could have taken out your jb4....its a 25 minute job. |

In addition to the HPFP Recall, there is also an Injector Recall for certain cars with certain production dates. I actually didn't get a letter in the mail yet. I just decided to ask my SA the other day if my car falls under the Recall. He ran my VIN through his computer, said it does, and made the appointment to have it taken care off tomorrow.

[QUOTE=beemw;9046862]you can kiss you injectors and maintenance goodbye.
QUOTE] You won't lose your maintenance by getting your powertrain warranty voided, ask me how I know. OP, one problem you face with getting injectors replaced is that they must be calibrated with the BMW diagnostic. They could refuse it if they see the tune and say that the tune will interfere with their computer when calibrating the injectors. Replacing the injectors isn't difficult at all on this car if you have the tools. You could prob do the entire set in 30 min, but the thing is you need a GT1 to calibrate them. Injectors run about $110 each @ Tischer, $130 at your BMW dealership.

Well yes and no because the fuel is a known problem already, however if it breaks they could aslways say that it had to work harder due to the tune. So its hard to answer that...

OP, whatever you do, update your JB4 to the latest firmware. There is a CANbus disabled valet map on the later revisions. You could not disable the CANbus hijack on the earlier firmware.

My JB4 was updated to the latest Firmware last week, 2/21. When you say CANbus Disabled Valet Map, are you talking about Map 0 which is Stock Bypass? Thanks!
